“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”

I would have to disagree. Quotes are a great way to express a complex philosophy in a very direct and simplified way. How else could you say, “It’s not what happens to you, but what you do with what happens to you that matters,” in a way that is as relatable and easy to understand? You really can’t. Please try.. I will wait 😉

It would not be difficult to find empirical evidence that supports that having a positive outlook on a situation can lead to further positive outcomes. If proving a point was my intention I would google it for you. I also strongly disagree with the point you make that a person must have experienced something in order to apply it in a way that leads to a behavioral modification. I do not need to be hit by a car to understand if someone tells me, “look both ways when you cross the street.”

and even though I will most likely delete this thread because it does not really add to the positivity and growth that is my intention for the blog… I do appreciate the mental chess match 🙂

lastly, if you plan to make future comments please keep in mind that my intention for this space is to keep things light and fun. It is not really a place for debate or intellectualization about differing views. Feel free to unfollow if this does not suit you.
